I had a hard time trying to log into my own blogger account, because the passwords and usernames that I attempted to key in just refused to match.

And you know how systems usually have a “Forgot password” option? They should have a “Forgot username” button too. ‘Cause I tend to forget my username more often than my password. My first-choice usernames always get rejected!

It’s a little like working in the bank. There are 9324130223534 systems, and for each, I have an assigned username, and then I have to come up with a password. The password cannot be the same across systems, have to be alphanumeric etc. etc., cannot be similar at all to your previous ones, and have to be changed once every 2 months.

And so, if you’re gonna ask me about how it’s like working full-time, the most challenging aspect of it has been… yep, managing my usernames and passwords :D

As I was on my way home today, I marvelled at how in the past year, I’ve transformed from that lost visitor-tourist-foreigner perpetually asking for directions, to the cool suave local who is now often stopped for directions, and confidently points the poor lost souls in the right direction!

The Way Out

1st of July

Today is the 1st of July.

It wouldn’t normally be so scary, except that this 1st of July marks the countdown to me losing my London life. :(

Mr Ergonomist

As I was doing the markets report this morning, an elderly but distinguished-looking man approached me and asked, somewhat mild-manneredly, “Good morning, are you Little Mint?”

(I have, by now, a million names in London, since no one can ever figure out what my “first name” is.)

The guy proceeded to introduce himself as the company’s “physiotherapist and ergonomist”. <em>(</FONTSIZE =”1″>I didn’t even know the word “ergonomist” existed until today!!)</em></span>

He then requested I stand up from my chair, and he looked me up and down, before starting to adjust the chair – one of those fully-adjustable super ergonomic chairs complete with a neckrest.

After he was done with all the fiddly bits, he sat me back down, made some minor adjustments, got me to reach over to the keyboard and mouse, adjusted their positions, then got me to stretch my arms out to the screen, sit up straight, adjusting the screen position.

Then he worked on the footrest, before issuing a leaflet that looked something like this,

before telling me all about “equipment ergonomics”: how to achieve good working postures, get frequent breaks, and practise “pause gymnastics” (mini exercises to be done every 1 hour to reduce “postural stresses and strains”.

Considering I’m only gonna be here for 1 month, I’m very impressed!

Happy Nights

The thing I like most about working is retreating to my quiet little bubble every evening, settling in to laugh over silly Korean romantic comedies. It gives me something to look forward to every day.

Thus far, I’ve watched 200 Pounds Beauty, My Little Bride, My Sassy Girl, Seducing Mr Perfect, My Tutor Friend, My Tutor Friend 2 (which I thought was a sequel, but turns out, it’s a re-make of My Tutor Friend 1, with a slight twist)… and they are good :) Gets me out of the depressing work routine.
