We don’t often do carnivals. In fact, I don’t think the husband and I have ever done a carnival in Singapore – mainly because of the blisteringly hot weather.

But we’re not seasoned parents, and tend to run out of ideas for what to do with the kid on weekends (please do share some great finds if you’re in the know!). So when I received an email on the Public Service Sports Carnival, we thought it’d be an excellent opportunity to bring K to the Marina Barrage, and get free balloons.

K really got into the sporty mood and just had to put on his basketball jersey. Along the way to the car, he even started doing warm-up exercises… although I’m not too sure how neck stretches count.

A family photo – complete with K’s ‘USA’ baseball cap before the fun began.

We met up with my cousin and her cute little tot (just look at those gorgeous curls!! This photo really doesn’t do it justice. Mental note to take a better picture the next time) before making our way for some water play. K led the pack by insisting on pushing his pram.

Off we go to get ourselves dripping wet.

And this is the real reason why every parent should bring their kid out for a day of fun. Two hours’ worth of uninterrupted quiet time: priceless.
